Affidavit of Millie Perry, June 18, 1894

In the matter of pension claim #588,805 of Rosetta Crandall widow of Ephriam Crandall Decd late of Co B 35 Regt U.S.C Troops on this 18 day of June A.D. 1894

Personally appeared before me a U.S. Commissioner for the Eastern District of North Carolina Millie Perry age near 84 yeares. A Resident of near Washington N.C. who Po address is Washington N.C. well known to be reputable & entitle to credit who being duly sworn according to law Declares as follows

I belong to Mr. Brad Perry before the war & was there family Nurse and I becom acquainted with Ephriam Crandall long before the war. he was a boy when I fist knew him & he belong to Mr Kit Crandall whos plantation was near my owner platain. Also I know Rosetta the claimant from a child. She belong to same family I Did, & I have been knoing her all her life & Remember on or about 1844 about 16 yeares before the war Ephriam Crandall married the claimant at Mr. Brad Perrys plantion and they was so Recognized as man & wife by all who knew them And before the war Ephriam Crandall's owner sold him to a man in Jamesville N.C. Name Edmond Moore and after his owner sold him to Mr Edmond Moore. he went on to Jamesville N.C. & Ephriam Crandalls wife the claimant stayed at her owners plantation and Ephriam Crandall would com from Jamesville to see his wife the claimant about evry 2 weeks & he continued to Visit Rosetta Crandall his wife. And when the war broke out Ephriam Crandall was on a Visit to see his wife Rosetta Crandall & he left her house & com to Washington N.C. & went on to Newbern N.C. to enlist as a soldire Ephriam Crandall was with Rosetta when he enlisted in the war also when the war brok out he was then with his wife claimant and always keep up his marriage relation with his wife Rosetta Crandall. And went from Rosetta Crandall house when he enlisted in the war. I know Epriahm Crandall was with Rosetta Crandall his wife by Reason of I was living in same house. the house was a Double house I live in one end & Ephriam Crandall & his Wife and children was living in other end of same house at the time and he Epriam left claimant his wife & went in the war & his son Cicero Crandall was at Newbern N.C. when Ephriam Crandall Died I have made an affidavit was in this claim before. the affidavit was written by W. H. Pender of Washington N.C. in my presence only from an oral statement made to him on this 18 day of June 1894 & in making the above I was not aided or promped by any written or printed statement or recitial prepared or Dictated by any other person & not attached as an exhibit to this my testimony my Po. address is Washington N.C.
