On this 8th day of January, 1875, at McImes Plantation, County of Edgecombe State of NC, before me, M E Jenks, a Special Agent of the Pension Office, personally appeared Dolly Clark, who being by me duly sworn according to law, declares that her age is [left blank] years, that she resides at near Tarboro County of Edgecombe, State of NC, and that
she was formerly the wife of Ephriam Crandall to whom I was married when I was a slave by permission of my master Geo Burras I cant tell what year I was married to him I know I had had him and lived with him as his wife about ten years before he went in the U S army I know my husband went away from me the second year of the war I had three children by my husband Ephriam, Mozella was the oldest one she was born in August but I dont know when Lewis my next child was born in October but I cant tell what year. Isabella was my next child she was born in October but I dont know what year. I know they were all born before my husband Ephriam went in the Army but I cant tell what year any of them were born and I never had any record of the births of my children I never had a testement or Bible and I never had my childrens ages recorded. Mozella my oldest child has been death about 5 years, these three children above named are all the children I ever had by my husband Ephriam, About one year before the war ended I was married by permission of my master Mr Burras to Wiley Clark with whom I am now living, and have been living with him as his wife since 1864 I have had seven children since I have been the wife of Wiley Clark. John is the oldest of the seven and Alicia the next oldest Ephriam Crandall my first husband always recognized me to be his wife from the time we first commenced to live together until he went away in about 1862, I did not marry Wiley Clark until I heard that Ephriam was dead, about the year 1867 Wiley Clark & myself were again married by a Minister I had a certificate but I lost it. Dr. Jenkins1 married us at Gum Swamp church in Pitt Co he was a white minister I am the same person who was pensioned by the Pension office some time ago but I never drew any pension I cant tell the age of my oldest child by Wiley Clark
and [left blank] further declares that he has no interest, direct or indirect, in the claim of [left blank] for a Pension; and further saith not.
