Perry, Millie

Ca. 1814 - ????

Millie Perry was born around 1814 in Beaufort County, North Carolina. She was initially enslaved by a woman named Polly Latham who later married William Gordon. When Gordon died about 1841, Polly married David Bradley Perry and took Millie to Perry's plantation Rosedale. At Rosedale, she shared a "double house" with Ephraim and Rosetta Crandall, also enslaved. While enslaved, Millie was forced to serve as the nurse for both David Bradley Perry's children and for the "owner's servants children." She was a resident of Beaufort County in 1894.
